MPSV06 project vessel "Kerch Strait" joins the fleet of the Marine Rescue Service

It was built by shipbuilders of the Amur Shipbuilding Plant

The multifunctional emergency rescue vessel "Kerch Strait" (MPSV06 project) has joined the fleet of the Primorsky Branch of the Marine Rescue Service. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport of Russia.

The Icebreaker 6 ice-class vessel is equipped with an icebreaker stem, a cruiser stern, and an elongated two-tier forecastle superstructure. "Kerch Strait" can operate along the Northern Sea Route.

It was built at the Amur Shipbuilding Plant (part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation). The project was developed by specialists from the Marine Engineering Bureau and "Nordic Engineering".

Purpose of "Kerch Strait":

  • Patrolling in shipping and fishing areas
  • Assisting ships in distress
  • Towing emergency vessels
  • Icebreaker support
  • Technical support for underwater work of divers
  • Extinguishing fuel in spill areas
  • Receiving a Ka-32 helicopter on board

Vessel length is 86 m, width is 19.10 m, maximum draft is 6 m, equipped with 2 cargo cranes, speed is 15 knots.
