From December 29, Russians will be able to present their passport electronically through the "Gosuslugi" mobile application when being served in financial organizations, according to a decree of the Russian government.
The document clarifies that the electronic presentation of information is possible during a personal visit to a bank or other financial organization if the citizen has previously been identified in that organization. Exceptions are cases where the legislation of the Russian Federation or regulatory acts of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation require the presentation of the original document on paper.
The decree implements the second stage of government decree No. 1443 of September 19, 2025, and complies with presidential decree No. 675, which allows the use of information technology to provide information from documents proving the identity of a citizen of the Russian Federation.
