Udmurtia to receive 1 billion rubles for drone development

В республике строят научно-производственный центр БАС

In 2026, the Udmurt Republic will receive 1 billion rubles as part of the national project for the development of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). The funds will be used to create and equip a scientific and production center based at the Izhevsk State Technical University named after M.T. Kalashnikov.

Unmanned aircraft systems are now used not only in the defense sector, but also in agriculture, logistics, infrastructure monitoring, forestry and emergency situations. Udmurtia is focusing on creating a complete cycle — from fundamental research and design to mass production and operational use.

The region is already considered a leader in domestic drone production, and the new center should significantly strengthen its position in achieving the national goal of technological sovereignty and leadership in high-tech industries.

According to the Head of Udmurtia, Alexander Brechalov, the center will be fully equipped with modern equipment as early as next year.
