The Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant (KMZ) has completed the development of Russian electric rudder propellers (ERRP) with a capacity of 0.2 to 3.5 MW for small and medium-tonnage vessels. The project is being implemented within the framework of an agreement with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and is aimed at import substitution of marine component equipment.
The technical design stage of the 2 MW ERRP has already been completed. Simultaneously, work is underway on a technical project and working design documentation for a 3 MW column with an Arc5 ice class.
The new ERRPs are designed for operation in harsh marine conditions, including ice regions, and can be installed on emergency rescue, auxiliary, research, passenger and special vessels.
The use of domestic columns increases the maneuverability of vessels, simplifies the layout of power plants and reduces operating costs. The immediate plans include the manufacture of prototypes, bench and certification tests, as well as the preparation of products for mass production.
