TEM23 Locomotive Becomes Russian: Locomotive Included in the Ministry of Industry and Trade Register

Power is similar to six-axle counterparts

Bryansk Machine-Building Plant (BMZ, part of JSC "Transmashholding") confirmed the Russian origin of the TEM23 shunting locomotive. The locomotive has been added to the Register of Russian Industrial Products of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

Serial production of TEM23 began in 2023. The plant has confirmed the domestic origin of key components and successfully passed an audit of production sites. Currently, all serial equipment from the manufacturer is included in the Register of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia.

TEM23 is a four-axle, two-diesel locomotive that can perform shunting and shunting-export operations both on the Russian Railways network and for private operators.

The locomotive demonstrates power comparable to six-axle counterparts. At the same time, the locomotive is more economical in fuel and oil consumption. The provided modern diesel engines also ensure more environmentally friendly operation.
