The crews of the Ka-27PS anti-submarine helicopters and the Ka-27PL rescue helicopters of the Baltic Fleet naval aviation practiced tasks to combat unmanned surface vehicles (BEC) of a mock enemy in the Baltic Sea. This was reported by the fleet's press service.
The helicopter pilots made over 10 sorties to the sea range. Ships of the Baltic Naval Base were involved in developing methods for identifying kamikaze boats.
After the BECs were detected, training was conducted to prepare advantageous positions for firing from large-caliber machine guns.
Then, the Ka-27 rescue helicopters conducted exercises on the ground and over the sea surface to rescue those in distress, and the Ka-27 anti-submarine helicopters performed tasks to search for and destroy enemy submarines. Up to 10 rotary-wing aircraft of the Baltic Fleet were involved in the maneuvers.
