Scammers are sending out fake payments from "Gosuslugi" — the Ministry of Internal Affairs is sounding the alarm

Links in messages lead to illegal casinos, investments, and malicious programs

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has recorded a mass mailing in messengers on behalf of "Gosuslugi," in which citizens are offered to allegedly receive a cash payment. This was reported by the Department for the Organization of Combating Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation.

The distribution scheme works through social engineering: when trying to apply for a "payment," the user subscribes to fraudulent resources that promote illegal casinos, fake investment tools, and malicious software disguised as useful programs.

The agency emphasized that it is dangerous to consider such schemes a threat only to "inexperienced users." Social engineering remains a vulnerable point even with advanced technical protection: trusting scenarios and the absence of verification mechanisms allow fraudsters to profit for years.

To protect citizens, the Ministry of Internal Affairs recommends developing digital literacy, verifying sources of information, pausing when under pressure, and applying critical thinking — this helps stop fraudulent scenarios even before the first mistake is made.

Messages from scammers imitate official notifications of a payment of 15 thousand rubles, offer to apply through dubious sites, and even provide links to non-existent portals in order to fraudulently obtain users' personal data.
