The unusual "Lai-fi" project was presented in Yekaterinburg. Now free Wi-Fi in the city is provided by homeless dogs.
The project is implemented by Hot Singles studio in conjunction with the "ЗооЗащита" foundation and the "Мотив" telecom operator. It aims to draw attention to the problem of homeless animals.
To implement the project, small backpacks with the necessary equipment are attached to the dogs' backs. The authors assure that such equipment does not interfere with the animals.
These "living" access points can provide Internet speeds of up to 100 Mbps. The project website states that it is in beta testing, and users can order a specific dog - there are only three such animals - Ева, Рекс and Джек. However, it is not entirely clear what exactly the "order" implies, and how the delivery will be organized.
It is likely that the initiative will not be permanent. But the idea itself looks interesting and represents a social experiment that combines advertising and an art project.
Earlier www1.ru reported that deputies proposed to create a network of access points to support the economy in case of mobile communication interruptions.
