Traffic violation recording system to be modernized in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia

New IT solutions will be used to process data from cameras

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation is actively working on the introduction of high-tech IT solutions for processing data from cameras that record traffic violations. This information was provided in the agency's response to a request from Yaroslav Nilov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs.

Nilov stated that there were numerous appeals from citizens related to erroneous fines from photo and video recording cameras. According to the deputy, this problem may arise due to a shortage of employees in the traffic police units responsible for processing decisions on violations. The Ministry of Internal Affairs replied to the deputy, emphasizing that increasing the number of employees in the units is currently "premature."

At the same time, the security forces emphasized that work is underway to improve road cameras. We are probably talking about modernizing the software.

Currently, measures are being taken to modernize the ministry's departmental system ["Pautina" - editor's note], and the possibility of using high technologies to process large amounts of information received from recording equipment is being considered.
Alexander Gorovoy, First Deputy Head of the Department

Since 2022, the "Pautina" system has been used not only to record violations, but also to search for offenders and stolen cars, based on data from road cameras.
