Sergey Chemezov, General Director of Rostec State Corporation, announced that guided aerial bombs with a universal planning and correction module (UMPC) can be used not only from the boards of Su-34 front-line bombers, but also from other 4+ and 5 generation fighters. In particular, we are talking about Su-30SM/SM2 and Su-35S multi-purpose fighters, and in the future — also from new platforms, including the Su-57.
The correction module is made so that it can be used on any fourth and fifth generation aircraft without modification.
UMPC turns ordinary high-explosive and concrete-piercing bombs into cheap but effective guided munitions with a very long range. This approach makes it possible to significantly expand the capabilities of tactical aviation without the need to modernize aircraft for specialized weapons systems.
According to Chemezov, the key advantage of UMPC is its compatibility with a wide range of carriers. This means that even obsolete modifications of the Su-27 or MiG-29, if equipped with appropriate avionics, can be used to deploy such ammunition.
Experts note that this also simplifies logistics and reduces the preparation time for aviation regiments to perform tasks using high-precision weapons.
Earlier www1.ru reported that an expert assessed the evolution of Russian aerial bombs with UMPC and noted a sharp increase in the range of application.
