Zhatai shipyard will begin operating at full capacity by the end of 2025. This was announced by the Chairman of the Government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Kirill Bychkov.
Currently, the company is completing commissioning and training personnel to work with new equipment (machines for bending profile and sheet metal, plasma and gas cutting machines). The workshop will allow the production of vessels of various classes — "river-sea", "river" and small sea vessels.
According to Bychkov, the Zhatai shipyard has already completed one order for the Suntar district. A small ferry was launched in the fall of this year.
The opening of the Zhatai shipyard will provide a modern river fleet for cargo transportation in the Lena basin and the Arctic zone. By 2036, the shipyard plans to build about 100 river vessels.
The construction of the shipyard was planned to be completed in 2020, but the commissioning dates have been repeatedly postponed.
