Deputy Prime Minister Savelyev spoke about the authorities' plans

Deliveries via the Northern Sea Route (NSR) may become an alternative to the Suez Canal. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev. According to him, the departments are actively working to increase the number of ships that would be involved in this route. By 2030, the number of icebreakers should increase to 11.

The Deputy Prime Minister noted the importance of developing the cargo base. He explained that the Northern Sea Route is provided with cargo from Novatek, Rosneft and Gazpromneft.

And today we are fully considering the issues of increasing our vehicles. Today we have 8 nuclear icebreakers operating. In the near future, by 2030, we plan to increase this group to 11 icebreakers.

According to him, it is necessary to achieve a volume of traffic from 70 million to 109 million tons by 2030. Savelyev also recalled the importance of increasing the carrying capacity and cargo turnover on international transport corridors, which should increase by one and a half times compared to 2021.

This is a serious task, so we are all working on it together.
