Russia is entering a new stage in the creation of its own mainline aircraft. Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev announced that the domestic aviation industry has received a large and stable order portfolio — about 300 MC-21 and Tu-214 aircraft.
The politician noted that stable demand from carriers is becoming a key condition for increasing production rates.
Of course, airlines must ensure the order so that the industry is confident that it is producing aircraft to order. Therefore, Aeroflot signed an agreement for 200 MC-21 aircraft. There is already a firm order, and there are some aircraft that are in a framework agreement. And the company S7 — they are also ready to sign contracts for Tu-214 aircraft for about 70 to 100 machines. They are currently in the negotiation process.
Savelyev believes that the industry should cope with the tasks set.
The Kazan Aviation Plant is currently not producing Tu-214 aircraft, as all its resources are currently occupied with fulfilling a state defense order, according to aviation expert Andrei Velichko. S7's plans for 100 Tu-214 aircraft he assessed skeptically.
