The company "Aidol," in collaboration with the New Technological Coalition (NTC), presented the first domestic anthropomorphic robot with artificial intelligence. However, the event began with an unexpected incident — the machine lost its balance and fell right on the stage.
According to footage published on social networks, the robot, named Aidol, entered the stage to music from the movie "Rocky." While attempting to wave its hand, it lost its balance and fell. Developers quickly picked up the device and took it backstage. Later, a demonstration of the seated version went without incident.
Vladimir Vitukhin, director of the developing company "New Technological Coalition," explained that 77% of Aidol's components are produced in Russia. According to him, the robot was created to demonstrate technologies of bipedal (two-legged) movement, object manipulation, and natural communication with humans.
Aidol is equipped with a system of 19 servomotors that provide movement and facial expressions. The robot is capable of expressing 12 basic emotions and hundreds of micro-expressions thanks to "silicone skin" of varying stiffness, mimicking human facial expressions. "It can smile, ponder, or be surprised — just like a human," the developer noted.
The creators are considering using Aidol in the service sector, industry, and public spaces. In total, the robot has 67 degrees of freedom (from a robotics perspective), including 14 on each arm.
