Ozon is considering entering offline retail and opening a chain of small stores. This was announced by the company's advisor Alexander Shulgin at the Platform Economy Day at the National Center "Russia", TASS reports.
According to him, the marketplace wants to offer customers not only delivery, but also the opportunity to purchase goods directly at points of sale near their homes.
We would like to have a similar opportunity to open small stores in people's places of residence, and offer them delivery, and the opportunity to buy goods from the store. And I think that this will be for the common good of both food producers and buyers
The project may require adjustments to the current trade legislation. Removing a number of restrictions that were established for objective reasons would help increase competition, expand the range of products and improve prices for consumers, the company representative explained.
The interest in the offline format coincided with a period of record financial performance for Ozon. At the end of the third quarter of 2025, the marketplace's revenue increased by 69% year-on-year and reached 258.9 billion rubles. Adjusted EBITDA increased to 41.5 billion rubles, and net profit amounted to 2.9 billion, compared to a loss a year earlier.
The company expects that the turnover, taking into account services, at the end of 2025 will grow by 41–43%. The fintech direction, according to the forecast, will show growth of more than two times, and operations on the Ozon card outside the platform will for the first time exceed the volume of purchases inside it.
