Pakistani Intelligence Tried to Extract S-400 "Triumph" SAM System Technologies from Russia

The suspect was detained during a counterintelligence operation in St. Petersburg

Russian security forces thwarted an attempt to smuggle military technologies in the interests of Pakistan, The Economic Times reported.

According to the source, during a counterintelligence operation in St. Petersburg, law enforcement officers detained a citizen of the Russian Federation who tried to take technical documentation on air defense systems and modifications of the Mi-8 helicopter out of the country.

The publication claims that the suspect worked for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

Other details are not provided in the publication. Russian law enforcement agencies have not reported the detention of suspects in collaboration with Pakistan.

The Economic Times added that the "spy network" was uncovered a few months after the Indian operation "Sindur" in Pakistan.

In 2018, India signed a contract for thepurchase of five divisions of the S-400 SAM system for $5.43 billion. Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that in the conflict with Pakistan, the Russian S-400 became a decisive force.

Earlier www1.ru reported that a Mi-8T helicopter is being sold in Russia for the price of a Lada Vesta.
