The promising US air defense system (ADS) "Golden Dome" is not capable of stopping the latest Russian missile "Burevestnik" with a nuclear power plant. This was stated by military expert Alexey Leonkov.
He drew attention to the fact that the "Golden Dome" will close the launch sites of its missiles, and the air defense is not even echeloned. Creating a full-fledged system requires trillions of dollars and much more time.
But the most important thing is the capabilities of the "Burevestnik" itself, Leonkov noted. We are talking about a strategiccruise missile with a thermonuclear warhead.
That is, the tactics of overcoming air defense can be different. One of the techniques is to detonate a charge in the air, which will disable radar stations responsible for defense and clear the way for other missiles.
Another important factor is the very doctrine of the use of "Burevestnik". Leonkov suggested that the missile would only rise into the sky todeliver retaliatory strikes. That is, most air defense systems will have already been destroyed by that time.
