Yak-130 Spotted in Tehran: Russia Strengthens Iran's Aviation Training

Modernized aircraft will be useful in combating drones and training pilots

Russian Yak-130 trainer/light combat aircraft have been spotted at an airbase in Tehran. Apparently, these are what An-214-100 military transport aircraft have been delivering recently, military expert Evgeny Damantsev noted.

Yak-130 at an airbase in Iran

For Iran, the Yak-130s can become a "flying desk" for training pilots before transitioning to the Su-35S, but even the training aircraft themselves are suitable for light attack missions and combating drones.

The Yak-130 is the best solution for Iran in its class. The Yak-130 in the standard version can be equipped with R-73RMD-2 short/medium-range air-to-air missiles, capable of effectively countering a wide range of kamikaze UAVs.
Evgeny Damantsev, military expert

The Yak-130 is a two-seat trainer/light combat aircraft that is widely used for pilot training and combat technique practice.

The aircraft are used to practice attacks on small targets, reconnaissance, and covering ground forces. The Yak-130s delivered to Tehran will accelerate flight crew training and increase the flexibility of tactical aviation use.
