A delegation from the Uzbekistan Atomic Energy Development Agency (Uzatom) traveled to Italy to learn about the production of Ansaldo Energia turbines. The news seems unexpected given that Rosatom is implementing the Uzbek nuclear power plant project.
In Genoa, representatives of Uzatom inspected the workshops of Ansaldo Energia, where turbine rotors and blades are created — key components of power plants. The Italians demonstrated equipment with a capacity of up to 1000 megawatts, suitable for nuclear units as well.
In May 2025, Uzatom and Ansaldo Energia signed a memorandum of understanding, which laid the foundation for long-term cooperation in the field of peaceful atom.
As a reminder, the contract for the construction of a nuclear power plant based on the Russian project in the Farish district of the Jizzakh region was concluded by Rosatom and Uzatom in May 2024.
The planned capacity of the plant is 330 MW. The nuclear power plant will be equipped with six RITM-200N reactors with a capacity of 55 MW each. The general contractor is Rosatom, and local companies will also be involved in the construction of the plant.
