The latest K-53949 "Phoenix" armored vehicles have been delivered to the Russian military. The new vehicle was created on the chassis of a two-axle all-wheel drive vehicle.
"Phoenix" is an updated and fully import-substituted version of the already well-known "Typhoon-K" combat vehicle based on the serial KamAZ-53949 chassis with a 4x4 wheel arrangement.
More than 120 enterprises were involved in the development of the armored vehicle: the Saratov Federal Nuclear Center in Sarov calculated the protection of the armored hull, the Moscow Research Institute of Steel was responsible for the armor, and the Bauman Moscow State Technical University was responsible for the hydropneumatic suspension.
The "Phoenix" is not afraid of a mine explosion of up to eight kilograms in TNT equivalent. Video cameras are installed around the perimeter of the armored vehicle, providing the ability to view the terrain without leaving the cabin. The habitable space is sealed, and there is filtration of the air entering the interior.
The "Phoenix" accommodates up to 10 people including the crew. The curb weight is 14 tons, the speed is up to 100 km/h, and the range is up to 800 km.
