Architects from the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba, together with colleagues from the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering, have developed experimental modular residential complexes for the Far North. These structures can be quickly erected and adapted to the harsh climatic conditions of the region.
To exclude contact with permafrost and its thawing, the building must be «floating». For these purposes, it is suspended on special supports. They are connected to each other in the form of a triangle, which gives stability to the structure. The modules themselves have rounded corners to reduce wind load. Their compact shape, close to a cube or cylinder, minimizes the area of external walls, which reduces heat loss.
The modules are designed taking into account the standard sizes of 20- and 40-foot shipping containers, which facilitates their transportation by any means of transport.
The kit includes parts that allow a team of two to four people to assemble the structure without the use of heavy equipment. In addition, temporary buildings can be quickly disassembled for transportation or storage.
The project includes color accents and lighting to improve mood during the polar night. The roof and walls of the houses are designed for the installation of solar panels.
Earlier www1.ru reported that a Russian official proposed building a tunnel to Alaska named after Putin and Trump.
