Restless in Space: Two Strong Flares Occurred on the Sun

The longest M1.5 flare lasted 25 minutes

Two flares of the penultimate power class M were recorded on the Sun. This was reported by the press service of the "Institute of Applied Geophysics named after Academician E. K. Fedorov" (FSBI "IPG").

At 02:19 Moscow time, an M1.0 flare lasting 16 minutes was recorded in the X-ray range in spot group 4246 (N23W67). At 04:28 Moscow time, an M1.5 flare lasting 25 minutes was recorded in the X-ray range in spot group 4246 (N23W67).

On the night of Thursday, October 16, astronomers recorded three flares of the penultimate power class M on the Sun. Increased flare activity has been observed since October 13.
