Specialists of the Military Academy of the Strategic Missile Forces named after Peter the Great have created a prototype of a reusable launch vehicle stage. This follows from the document accompanying the patent.
The invention relates to the field of rocket and space technology in the part of the returnable reusable stage of a launch vehicle and can be used in the course of experimental design work to create stages of launch vehicles, transport spacecraft, returnable aircraft flying in a wide range of speeds along a return trajectory, at the stage of flight design tests.
The design of the demonstrator includes a body with ring tanks for fuel and oxidizer, a fuel component supply system, as well as a marching propulsion system with the possibility of vector thrust control. A liquid propulsion system located in a separate landing unit is used for maneuvering relative to the center of mass. The hull is also equipped with landing and loading and installation mechanisms.
The Russian device is the closest analogue to the American Falcon 9 FT, it will allow to work out the design of the stage, onboard systems and autonomous landing in the altitude range up to 100 km and speeds up to Mach 4.
