Rosatom will develop and provide project documentation for a small nuclear power plant (NPP) in Uzbekistan by the end of 2025, the state corporation's press service reports.
Currently, engineering surveys are underway at the site, as well as the design and construction of a construction and installation base. By the end of 2025, project documentation for a small nuclear power plant will be developed and submitted to the Uzbek customer for consideration.
Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev, during the ceremonial event dedicated to the start of construction, stated that a new phase in the project's implementation has begun.
The contract for the construction of the country's first NPP was signed on May 27, 2024. It will consist of six reactors with a capacity of 55 MW each. Local companies will participate in the construction. Rosatom promises that the service life of the nuclear power plant will be at least 60 years.
