The lithium-ion battery storage gigafactory, which is being built in the Neman district of the Kaliningrad region, may reach its design capacity in the spring-summer of 2026, said Natalia Nikipelova, president of the TVEL fuel company (part of Rosatom).
According to her, the object's readiness is about 70%, the installation and commissioning of equipment has already begun on the site. The first tests are scheduled for December 2025, after which the company will need several months to debug the technologies.
The factory is smart, almost completely automated - about 2.5 kilometers of robotic lines. We expect to reach full capacity by mid-2026
The production capacity of the first gigafactory in Russia will be 4 GWh per year - this is enough to provide up to 50 thousand electric vehicles. In the future, if demand is confirmed, it is possible to launch the second and third stages, which will increase the total capacity to 14 GWh.
The project is being implemented by the industry integrator Renera LLC (part of Rosatom).
