Footage hasappeared online showing the transfer of S-125 "Pechora-2M" short-range anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) in the Venezuelan army. The military has apparently transferred the systems to the coastal regions of the country.
The "Pechora" began production back in 1961 at Soviet facilities, but the systems have "survived" to this day. Specifically, the S-125 "Pechora-2M" is a Russian modification of the SAM system developed by JSC "Defense Systems."
In 2007, the system was tested at a training ground. Protection against active and passive interference is ensured by the introduction of new equipment. The mass of the warhead increased by 50%, and the spread of fragments increased by 3.5 times.
Main characteristics of the complex:
- The surveillance radar has been replaced with a modern "Kasta-2E2";
- Number of launchers - 8 units;
- Tracking up to 16 air targets;
- Distance of the launcher from the control center - up to 10 km.
The complex has the ability to interface with remote radar stations (RLS) and command posts via telecode channels.
Effective firing at cruise missiles is possible, as well as the use of one target illumination and guidance radar or two (at two different targets). The optical station ensures operation not only during the day but also at night.
Earlier,www1.ru reported thatthe latest Svarog-Strela interceptor drone has entered the testing phase.
