The company "Carbontex" has developed a technology for the mass production of sheet polymer composite based on 3D fabric. The project was implemented with the support of the NTI fund (National Technological Initiative).
Specialists emphasize that the fabric can be used not only in the design of drones, but also in other significant areas of the aviation industry.
The main difference of the novelty is the use of three-dimensional carbon fiber fabric. This structure is much stronger than conventional layered materials: it makes the material more resistant to impacts and prevents its delamination under loads and processing, which was previously a serious problem. The development uses a three-dimensional preform of Russian production - a single-layer reinforced fabric. Previously, such composites were manufactured using layer-by-layer deposition technology, also known as "contact molding".
The material is produced using a unique pultrusion technology - a non-stop production process that ensures the rapid and large-scale production of composite products.
According to the creators, the introduction of an automated system will lead to a significant reduction in cost and acceleration of the production cycle. It is expected that in the future, Russian carbon plastic of industrial quality will appear on the market, characterized by an acceptable cost and excellent performance properties. The material will be produced in the form of sheets up to one meter wide and from two to six millimeters thick.
Representatives of the company emphasized that among the first clients are leading Russian corporations: "Almaz-Antey", "Rosatom" and "Rostec". The release of the first prototype is scheduled for the current year, and mass production is scheduled for the next year, 2026. By 2027, the company plans to control up to ten percent of the Russian market for carbon fiber materials.
Earlier www1.ru reported that maintenance and repair of aircraft brake discs of MS-21 and Superjet 100 aircrafts will be established at enterprises in Russia.
