The heavy flamethrower systems TOS-1A "Solntsepyok" now destroy targets at a range of over 10 km. This was announced by the "Uralvagonzavod" concern (part of the Rostec Group).
It is known that previous modifications of the "Solntsepyok" hit at a distance of up to 6 km, which forced the crews to get closer to the line of combat contact. Apparently, the specialists either modernized the thermobaric ammunition or improved the characteristics of the launcher.
For comparison, the newer heavy flamethrower system TOS-2 "Tosochka" allows hitting targets at a distance of 15 km. This is fundamentally important, as increasing the powder charge of the rockets leads to a decrease in the warhead.
Apparently, the designers managed to improve both the composition of the warhead and the propellant powder mixtures.
