«Kinzhal» missiles can be integrated into Su-57 fighters

This measure will allow long-range strikes without entering the air defense zone

The Indian Air Force (IAF) command is analyzing the possibility of purchasing 63 fifth-generation Su-57 multirole fighters from Russia. This number of combat aircraft is equivalent to three squadrons.

According to foreign sources, the most interesting thing is that the Russian Federation offered to integrate the Kh-47M2 «Kinzhal» hypersonic missile with a range of up to 2000 km and a speed of up to 10 Mach into the aircraft.

This capability will allow long-range strikes against targets in high-risk areas without direct crew involvement.

According to insiders, up to 40 Su-57 aircraft may be delivered by 2028, and the remaining fighters will be built at local factories by 2032. The cost of one Su-57 is estimated at $80-100 million, the total value of the deal is $5-6 billion.

About the Kh-47M2 «Kinzhal» missile

«Kinzhal» missiles entered combat duty with the Russian Armed Forces in August 2022, but they became known back in 2018. The ammunition is based on the 9M723 Iskander-M aeroballistic missile — a compact projectile that carries various types of warheads and can be launched at any initial speed and at any altitude of the carrier. Currently, the only missile carriers are MiG-31K.
