Specialists of the Pacific Higher Naval School (TOVVMU) have developed a prototype of the ultra-small underwater vehicle "Barracuda". The drone has successfully passed the tests.
Its main task is to be the eyes and hands underwater. It inspects a wide variety of objects: from piers and ships to the seabed. And with the help of a manipulator, it can pick up finds.
The drone is capable of speeds up to 1.5 meters per second and can carry up to 1.5 kilograms of payload. The device is equipped with a two-axis manipulator. This expands its functionality.
The developers emphasized that the "Barracuda" was assembled from available components so that repairs could be easily and inexpensively carried out if necessary. The device was tested in a pool and at sea in light waves.
The developers continue to improve the robot prototype. After its testing is completed, it is planned to establish mass production of "Barracudas".
Earlier www1.ru reported that the underwater perch robot was modernized at Samara University.
