Russia may potentially offer the PD-26 to China, which is developing its own long-range wide-body aircraft, the COMAC C919. However, to do this, it is necessary to increase production to meet the demand from the Chinese side, said aviation expert Roman Gusarov.
According to him, the aviation industry is currently facing the task of providing engines for its own MS-21 aircraft. Therefore, the country's production capacity is designed specifically for this. The Chinese, however, produce the C919 on a much larger scale than the MS-21.
Russia will not be able to supply the PD-26 in the volume needed by the Chinese tomorrow, because our country does not yet have such production capacity.
The specialist summarized that if Russia agrees to supply China with aircraft engines, it will have to scale up production, and several times over. Investments, new equipment, and personnel training will be required. This is not done so quickly, Gusarov concluded.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that the manufacturer of Be-200 amphibious aircraft will carry out a complete technical re-equipment: the sponsor has been revealed.
