In the UVZ published frame, you can see a tank with the characteristic arrangement of the turret blocks of the "Relikt" ERA, like the T-80BVM tanks.
Installing "Relikt" on the turret is a logical step in the development of the protection of T-72B3M. "Kontakt-5", which, although previously used and provided a certain level of protection, was not as effective against modern threats. "Relikt", thanks to its modular design and more advanced filling, has improved characteristics for neutralizing cumulative and armor-piercing subcaliber projectiles, and will also help the tank survive an attack by drones.
Previously, "Relikt" replaced "Kontakt-5" on the forehead of the hull of the modernized T-72B3, and now, after almost 4 years, it is the turn to strengthen the protection of the turret of T-72B3M tanks.
Technical characteristics of the T-72B3M tank:
The weight with ammunition is 46.5 tons, the dimensions of the hull: length 6860 mm, width 3780 mm, height along the turret/anti-aircraft machine gun - 2226/2865 mm; V-92S2F engine with a capacity of 1130 hp, maximum speed on the highway - 65 km/h, cruising range with barrels - 500 km. Armament includes the main 125-mm smoothbore gun 2A46M-5 (43 rounds), an auxiliary 12.7-mm NSVT machine gun and an additional 7.62-mm PKTM machine gun, the ammunition used are BPS, OFS, KS and a guided missile from the barrel channel with an effective firing range of 2500 m for BPS and 5000 m for ATGM.
Earlier www1 reported that the Russian tanks T-72BZ and T-90M "Proryv" still have to win back their niche on the battlefield.
