It became known how many electric vehicles and hybrids are in Russia

More than half of the "electric cars" are plug-in hybrids

As of July 1, 2025, 138.5 thousand electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids are registered in Russia. This is stated in the report "Park of electric vehicles and hybrids in Russia" by the Avtostat agency.

Of the total number of electric vehicles and hybrids, more than half (52.9%) are plug-in hybrids or plug-in hybrids. Cars have the ability to charge their batteries not only from energy recovery systems during movement or from an installed internal combustion engine (ICE), but also from external power sources.

Such cars can be connected to street charging terminals or ordinary household sockets to replenish the energy supply in batteries. Popular models of plug-in hybrids include Lixiang L7, Aito M5, Toyota Prius, Chevrolet Volt and others.

The remaining 47.1% are electric vehicles (Battery Electric Vehicle – BEV), which are completely dependent on battery power sources. Vehicles use an electric power plant. These cars include Nissan Leaf, Volkswagen ID.4, Audi e-tron, Porsche Taycan, as well as models "Moskvich 3e", Tesla and Zeekr.

A year ago, on July 1, 2024, electric vehicles occupied a more significant share in this park — 56.2%, while hybrids accounted for 43.8%. This indicates a growing interest in hybrid technologies among Russian car enthusiasts.

If we consider the brand structure of the Russian park of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids in mid-2025, the leadership is still held by the Chinese premium brand Lixiang, which occupies 23.7% of the total volume. In second place is the Japanese Nissan with a share of 12.6%. Next come the Chinese premium brands Voyah (11.5%) and Zeekr (9.1%), and the top five is closed by the American Tesla with a share of 5.1%.
