New Floating Dock Under Construction at Krasnaya Kuznitsa Plant in Arkhangelsk

The project is being implemented as part of the United Shipbuilding Corporation's investment program

The fifth of ten blocks for the construction of a new 5000-ton lifting capacity floating dock was delivered to the Krasnaya Kuznitsa shipyard in Arkhangelsk, a branch of the Zvezdochka Ship Repair Center, on September 1, 2025. The project is being implemented as part of the investment program of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC).

Four sections of the dock have already been connected, and the fifth block is being prepared for стыковке. The new dock will relieve the existing 9000-ton lifting capacity dock and increase the volume of orders fulfilled. According to the plant's director, Mikhail Deryabin, the need for ship repair services has increased, and the docking schedule is full until 2027.

The need for floating docks has increased after the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions. Ship repair services are in high demand today, and the docking schedule is full until 2027.

This will be a significant event for both the region and the entire ship repair industry. The possibility of year-round operation of the new dock, its dimensions and capacity will allow the plant to fulfill a larger number of orders. With the further development of the Northern Sea Route, the need for ship repair facilities will increase.

The construction of a series of passenger ice-class vessels of project РЕГК.126 was also discussed at the plant: Onega, Solvychegodsk, Kargopol, and Kenozerye. The first two vessels have been undergoing testing since the spring of 2025. Onega is designed for 65 passengers, the rest for 100. These vessels will ensure the transport accessibility of the Pomorye territories.

The Krasnaya Kuznitsa plant, founded in 1693, is one of the oldest ship repair enterprises in Russia. The development of the Northern Sea Route increases the need for its capacities.
