The magnetic storm on Earth continues, but is so far developing according to a "soft scenario", however, by the middle of the day it may intensify to level G3. This was reported by the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of IKI and ISZF.
On the night of September 2, the level of disturbance of the geomagnetic field varied from G1 to G2 on a scale of five indicators, where G5 means "extremely strong", and G1 means "weak".
The magnetic storm was caused by the arrival of a plasma cloud to Earth, which was accompanied by an M2.76 flare. Geomagnetic disturbances can last from 30 to 45 hours, which may affect the operation of satellites and communication systems.
Given the expected daily duration of the geomagnetic storm, it is currently believed that the auroral zone will last until the next dark time of day, and in this case it will be able to be observed again on the night of September 2 to 3 over the entire territory of the country.
Earlier www1.ru reported that powerful magnetic storms due to a coronal hole on the Sun are expected in the coming days.
