Medium and penultimate level magnetic storms are expected on Earth on September 2

The Sun ejected a cloud of plasma towards our planet

On September 2, 2025, scientists predict strong magnetic storms due to the release of solar plasma towards Earth. This was reported by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the IKI RAS.

The ejection occurred after a flare of level M2.76 — the second in a day. According to LASCO and CCOR-1 coronagraphs, solar matter will reach Earth's orbit on Tuesday. It will cause storms of level G2–G4 (level below the maximum G5).

Scientists warn that the main danger is the possible repeated emissions of plasma, given the high energy reserves in the active regions of the Sun. A similar scenario has already led to record storms of the highest level in May 2024.

In addition to the ejection towards Earth, the Sun also directed clouds of plasma to Venus and Mercury. In active regions 4195 and 4197, a series of class M flares continues, indicating a high probability of new strong events.
