Scammers use electronic diaries to steal money

Attackers act as school staff or tech support

Scammers have come up with a new way to deceive. They exploit the topic of electronic diaries to steal money. This was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Scammers contact users with a request to update or link a phone number to an electronic diary and, under this pretext, lure out confidential data. They call or write, posing as school staff or technical support. After that, the attackers demand to confirm the number or activate an account that is supposedly necessary for the diary to work correctly.

Criminals ask for codes from SMS or send links to phishing sites. By possessing this data, they gain access to accounts on "Gosuslugi", online banks and other services.

In order not to become a victim of such schemes, it should be remembered that employees of educational institutions do not require SMS codes, passwords or passport data by phone. All actions with the electronic diary are performed through official school platforms or the "Gosuslugi" portal, without the participation of third parties.
