The Sun Had the Fourth Powerful Class M Flare of the Day, the Highest Class X Flare Is Approaching

Earlier, events of classes M3.3, M1.3 and M4.5 were observed

On August 26, the fourth flare of the penultimate power class was recorded on the Sun during the day. This was reported at the Institute of Applied Geophysics.

According to experts, a M1.0 flare lasting 45 minutes was recorded at 17:07 Moscow time. Earlier that day, events of classes M3.3, M1.3 and M4.5 were observed.

Scientists from the Institute of Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences note an increase in solar activity and suggest the appearance of flares of the maximum level - class X.

Solar flares are divided into five categories: A, B, C, M and X, where each subsequent one indicates a tenfold increase in the power of X-ray radiation. Such phenomena may be accompanied by plasma ejections that can cause magnetic storms when they reach Earth.
