The most powerful flare since June 20, 2025, has been recorded on the Sun. The maximum radiation was recorded at 08:24 Moscow time, according to the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Institute for Space Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The event is classified as M4.6 on the five-point flare scale and is associated with the appearance of several large active centers on the visible side of the solar disk. Last week, these same zones, located on the far side of the Sun, caused powerful plasma ejections directed towards Mars.
Currently, the active regions are far from the direction of Earth, so there are no direct threats to the planet. However, the conservation of energy in these centers indicates the potential for new strong flares.
According to preliminary calculations, the active zones will approach the direction of Earth in the second half of August 26, and large plasma ejections with large angular sizes may begin to touch Earth at the edge as early as August 25.
