The Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences registered a new flare of the penultimate power class on the Sun on Tuesday.
The event occurred at 08:25 Moscow time. Experts estimated the flare's power at M4.52 on the X-ray scale.
Scientists note the increase in solar activity overnight. The Sun repeated a two-month flare record.
Experts suggest the possibility of a higher class X flare within 24 hours. Active centers have moved 50 degrees from the Sun–Earth line. This angle of displacement is still considered safe, but with a smaller margin of safety.
Earlier, the IPH reported M3.3 and M1.3 flares that occurred on the night of Tuesday.
