Construction of a new station on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya metro line has begun in the Golyanovo district. The Golyanovo station will be located in the center of the district, at the intersection of Ussuriyskaya and Sakhalinskaya streets.
The new station will be the terminus on the line and will have two underground lobbies. Its construction will relieve traffic on Shchelkovskoye Highway and the nearby Shchelkovskaya station. About 230,000 residents of the district will be able to get to the metro faster, and travel times will be reduced by 15–20 minutes.
Work has already begun: the launch of the first tunnel-boring machine on the Shchelkovskaya – Golyanovo section is planned for November. The second shield will start working later. The station will be integrated into the surrounding buildings, creating a new public space.
The exact completion dates for construction have not yet been announced.
