Laser air defense technologies are most effective in combination with electronic warfare (EW), mechanical and kinetic weapons, said Natalia Kotlyar, Deputy Director of the Vector Research Institute (part of Rosel of Rostec).
She noted that tiered defense systems also remain in demand. For example, SERP complexes are located at critical infrastructure facilities.
The latest modification, SERP-VS13D, operates on 13 frequencies, combining electronic warfare and a high-precision detector. It "kills" quadcopters with a control function in a wide frequency range, SERP is controlled both automatically and manually, activating only in case of real danger.
Last week in Russia bench tests of an updated, more powerful laser installation (beam weapon) were successfully carried out as part of the "Staff" project, the general director of the development company said.
