Заменят аналоги на дизельном топливе: вышку сотовой связи на водороде запустят на Сахалине

The project is being implemented by Sistema Corporation in collaboration with PJSC MTS

Sistema Joint Stock Financial Corporation, in collaboration with PJSC MTS, is developing solutions for supplying cell towers with electricity from hydrogen. This was announced by Yuri Dobrovolsky, General Director of the Hydrogen Energy Center of AFC Sistema.

We are now going to make a charging device for MTS towers using hydrogen.

A pilot cell tower powered by hydrogen fuel is already operating in the region. The technology was developed by specialists from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) with the support of the state corporation RusHydro and the government of the Sakhalin Region.

The operating scheme includes electricity generation at a solar power plant, hydrogen production by electrolysis, its compression and delivery in containers to remote sites. Using hydrogen fuel cells, hydrogen is converted back into electricity, which ensures autonomous operation of the tower and reduces emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere.

Today, most remote facilities in Russia use imported diesel fuel, the supply of which is complex and expensive, and its combustion leads to the release of greenhouse gases.

Of course, getting energy from hydrogen is still more expensive than from traditional fossil fuels. But with the development of technology and the hydrogen market as a whole, with the formation of the necessary infrastructure, costs will decrease significantly.
