In the port of Murmansk, the research vessel "Akademik Tryoshnikov" is preparing to depart. It will deliver the necessary cargo, scientific equipment, and a new crew of scientists and polar explorers to the drifting station "North Pole-42".
The expedition, organized by the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute, will take approximately two months. During this time, the vessel will travel about 9,000 kilometers, mainly moving along the drifting ice of the Arctic Ocean.
On the way, the R/V plans to visit the research station "Ice Base Cape Baranov", located on the Severnaya Zemlya archipelago.
R/V "Akademik Treshnikov", built at the Admiralty Shipyards of USC, is a unique ice-class Arc7 vessel. It combines the capabilities of an icebreaker, a tanker-dry cargo ship, a passenger liner, and a modern research station with ten specialized laboratories.
