ОСК сократит 70% персонала на Хабаровском судостроительном заводе

The reason for the layoffs is the lack of production orders

The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) will cut 70% of the employees of the Khabarovsk Shipbuilding Plant (KhSZ) due to the lack of production orders. The corresponding order was signed on July 10 by the general director of the enterprise, Mikhail Borovsky.

According to data for 2023, the plant employed 505 people, and in 2024 their number decreased to 293. After the layoffs, the staff may decrease to approximately 90 employees.

KhSZ, founded in 1953, is one of the largest shipbuilding enterprises in the Far East. The plant specializes in the construction of naval minesweepers and anti-submarine warfare ships.

The report for 2024 notes that KhSZ faces difficulties in competing with other shipyards due to the high cost and long construction time of ships. The main reason is the remoteness of the plant from metallurgical enterprises and component suppliers, most of which are located in the European part of Russia.
