The export potential of Russian dual-use drones is estimated at $5–12 billion per year. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Anton Alikhanov, at the plenary session of the forum "Unmanned Systems: Technologies of the Future," which is taking place in Moscow.
These are huge numbers, and it's understandable that they are hard to believe, but if we are only talking about the needs of defense and security, this is the part that we see.
The minister noted that China currently leads in terms of the volume of the domestic UAV market. At the same time, the Asian country is considered the largest exporter of various types of drones to the international market. The presentation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation indicates that the markets of India, Indonesia, and Vietnam represent great potential for the export of domestic UAVs. The estimated share of Russia was estimated at $3.6-9.4 billion and the volume of supplies – up to 7.5 million units of equipment.
Another promising market is Algeria, Egypt, and Sudan. About 0.6–1.6 million aircraft worth $0.6–2 billion can be sent to these countries. In third place were Cuba, Venezuela, and Nicaragua. Russia could sell up to 300,000 UAVs worth up to $300 million to Latin America.
Nikolai Ivashov, an expert in the Aeronet NTI market, said that there is demand abroad for reconnaissance and strike drones of Russian production, which were used in combat operations. However, as he stressed, they will only be purchased in friendly countries.
