MAI is developing a hybrid power plant for heavy drones and air taxis, which combines a thermal engine and electric motors.
The generator produces energy to rotate the propellers, and the batteries are connected during takeoff and maneuvers, which provides vertical takeoff and long-distance flights.
The installation will allow delivering heavy cargo to remote areas, conducting emergency rescue operations, monitoring and work in the agricultural sector, and in the future can be used for air taxis.
The uniqueness of the project lies in the sequential hybrid architecture and the use of digital twins of components adapted to domestic conditions.
In 2026, it is planned to test the demonstrator, the completion of the project is scheduled for December.
The new installation will allow creating universal air systems capable of operating without runways and performing complex logistics and rescue tasks.
