The Moscow Metro is preparing to introduce a new generation of turnstiles, which were presented at the "That Very Moscow" exhibition. The devices, which will appear this year, promise to increase the capacity of stations by 40% and improve transport accessibility for people with disabilities.
By 2031, more than 4.5 thousand new generation turnstiles will appear at metro, MCC and MCD stations. The speed of each will increase due to more modern equipment and the use of new Russian microelectronics made in Zelenograd.
The modernized turnstiles are now equipped with light indication informing about payment and are able to function both for entry and exit. This versatility helps to cope with the large passenger flow at stations and provides a more comfortable passage for people with disabilities. For visually impaired passengers, a tactile prompt is provided in the form of a vibration signal confirming the opening of the passage. The improved contactless payment reading area on the new turnstiles allows you to recognize various digital payment systems, such as the virtual "Troyka" card, SBP and biometric data, in a matter of seconds.
