FESCO Transportation Group, part of Rosatom's management circuit, has sent the first container train from Vladivostok to Kaluga with automotive components from China. The service, called FESCO Kaluga Shuttle, is designed for regular supplies of car kits to one of the automotive plants in the Kaluga region.
The cargo was delivered to the Vladivostok Marine Trade Port (VMTP) via the direct sea line FESCO China Direct Line from northern Chinese ports. The first batch of 152 TEU (twenty-foot equivalents) was sent by rail on August 6. The estimated travel time to Kaluga is 12 days, and the total delivery time from the moment of departure from China is about 35 days. The next train is scheduled for August 15.
According to FESCO Vice President for Linear and Logistics Division German Maslov, the new service will ensure stable supplies of components for the Russian automotive industry, which is gradually moving from importing finished cars to local assembly.
FESCO is one of the largest logistics companies in Russia, managing ports, railway transportation, and container lines. Its assets include Vladivostok Marine Trade Port, the intermodal operator "FESCO Integrated Transport" and other logistics assets. In November 2023, the controlling stake in FESCO was transferred to the management of the state corporation "Rosatom."
