Russia and Malaysia have begun working on an intergovernmental agreement on the supply of floating nuclear heat and power plants (FNPPs), according to Alexey Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom Corporation.

He clarified that the parties have not yet moved on to the implementation of the project, but are preparing an intergovernmental agreement that will describe future relationships.

Russia is one of the world leaders in the operation of floating nuclear power plants. Rosatom built the first such station in the world - "Akademik Lomonosov", which has been successfully operating in the city of Pevek in Chukotka since May 2020.
